 The Week at Wenty

S0…….. to the week in golf:

Our Metro mixed Pennants team finally had a home match after racking up more kms than a politician on the campaign trail. The opposition for the week was Rosnay Golf club who are leading the division. The home court advantage delivered a hard-fought tie, 2 ½ matches to 2 ½.  Our reserve pair of Andrew and Linda Loftus had a resounding win 4 and 2 to give Wenty a moral victory. The results of the reserve pairs go into the mix at the end of the home and away rounds to determine the division winner.

The next match is also at home and the team sees the return of Dave and Sandy Cameron, as well as John and Christine Hargreaves.

One interesting snippet about the mixed pennants is that Wenty are the only team where the golfing partners are mostly, also partners in life. Not sure what that says. It must be love.

Three matches to go and we are not out of it yet, we just need to crack the whip down the straight. Who doesn’t like a good crack of the whip, eh? (did I just say that aloud?)

Saturday was a Graded Stableford and 2B Alternate. With the Club Champs just a month away, the local bookies have the eyes out for the likely contenders in all grades. Murray Patterson, Joss Bennett and Godfrey Lucas had wins in their grades but the real story from Saturday came in the women’s division, Sandy Cameron had 44 points whilst using the putter for 36 of those strokes. Look out ladies if she gets the wand to co-operate.

The 2B alternate hole is another new team event on the roster for the year, with Ron Hood and Mike Zikan combined the best with 39 points.

The other big news out of Saturday was Gavin Cusack who put his tee shot to 37cm and won the $547 jackpot. More people should come to the club for presentation because Gavin shouted the bar, including anything from the top shelf!

On Friday, Chazz Ritchie off 6 had 21 points to win the day. Not too shabby Chazz.

Thursday was the first round of the new format Mid-Week medal. The qualifiers for the 2019 Gold Medal from Thursday were Kyle Dawson, Derek Hodge and Linda Loftus, who all had wins in their grades.

On Tuesday, 35 players lined up for our weekly Medley. It seemed to be a classic 2 horse race as John Byrne and John McInnes filled the podium and John McInnes and John Byrne won all the NTPs. I am certain I saw other people on the course that day but maybe I was mistaken.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.

A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
