The Week at Wenty
Another great Saturday night out at the club, we welcome our new Manager, our Greens to get their bi-annual makeover, the Jackpot Hole skyrockets to over $800 and our Handiskins finalists prepare for their shootout this Saturday.
In the clubhouse……………………………,
Mike Hancott has come home to the mountains and has accepted the challenge to lead us into the light or for all you old rockers, with our support, Back in Black. On Tuesday, he met a heap of our weekday Warriors, on Thursday night, he met our Trivia masters, on Saturday he was there for presentation and then met all of our members who attended our Junior Presentation night. Already, “Vive la difference”. What a great start!
Saturday’s Junior Golfers’ Presentation night went offffffff !!!
Tom Daniels was the quiz Maestro and made answering all the questions, or in our case, not answering all the questions, fun. Winton Evers team, including plenty of able interchange players, won the game but the Juniors were the winners on the night managing to raise nearly $1500. Thanks soooooooooo much to everybody that made it possible, including the many tables of our members that showed their support.
On the course…………………..,
Our Ladies inter-district Pennants team travelled to Lynwood and showed us another way to extend our reach into other areas. They didn’t win the day but ladies, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. We host on Sunday 7th October so we will be looking for a bit of home court payback.
Visitor Tim Murphy from “The Coast” showed us all up on Saturday and only Murray Patterson, Tass “the Tiger” James and John Armstrong gave him a fight. In the best 3 of 4 Teams event, Jamie Galbraith, Amelia Galbraith, Steve and Sue West sqeaked home. A 2 a 5 on the 11th by Sue West giving a total of 11 points on the hole will do that for you. It’s been 11 weeks since Amelia swung a club with purpose but she managed to finish runner up to Ruth Lucas in the women’s event. There is certainly some talent in them bones.
A steward’s enquire would be called for if a Cullen didn’t win something on a Saturday and Dave Cullen saved us from the scrutiny by taking home the cash in the mystery hole for a near Hole In One on the 5th.
On Thursday, the perennial bridesmaid Steve Pole finally caught the bouquet and won on a count back. Steve has been beaten on a count back more times than Winks has won a gallop and finally his 73 off the stick for 40 points was rewarded. That’s a great round Steve. Well done.
Mr" Mid-week special " Frank Tregier had a win in Tuesday’s Medley.
It’s school Holidays from next week so prepare ye all for the Junior onslaught.
Keep Swinging everyone and How Good is Golf!

Wenty Juniors
Thank you to everyone who came to support our amazing juniors at their trivia night and Pennant Shirt presentation. It was a fun night with laughs aplenty. We even raised some money for our junior golfing program.
Before the night there was the Open Golf event and, true to form, there were lots of juniors playing. We even had a junior playing in his first competition round and he nearly played to his handicap. Well done Jesse Hardaker. A junior did also manage to win a prize, with Harry Daniels winning the putting comp.
The Junior 10-hole Challenge was busy again on Sunday. Here are the top 3 results: =1st – Aiden Cullen & Chazz Ritchie, 19 points; = 3rd – Rylan Cullen & Jesse Hardaker, 17 points.
