The upper mountains is awesome. As a freshly minted new resident of Wenty I hope I never take what it has to offer for granted. Everything from that amazing mountains mist that rolls in, the sometimes 10 Deg temperature difference between here and the valley down the hill, the lack of sticky humidity, to the quirky shops and incredible views whenever you look over your shoulder. There are of course the golf courses, each very different but delivering a unique quality that was carved out of nature, not laid upon it. We had another 195 competitive rounds this week and again, our weekday warriors outnumbered the Saturday field.

Weekly Trivia Question: What year did the US Kids Golf Commence in Australia and why? (Answer at the end of editorial)

On Sunday, Wenty hosted the US kids Golf Summer tour. Seeing these kids play, again reminds you just how much fun this game can be, as well as how easy it is to putt if you have no fear. Our wonderful new Caterers stayed open late to accommodate for some hungry kids and their parents and the club was jumping. Thanks Andrew for really adding to the day.

Whoever programmed a Bisque Par for Saturday’s event needs to be shot. Ahhhh, that would be me. In any case, winners are still grinners as Richard Pym won the men’s and Sandy Cameron won the ladies. Special mention goes to Mick Gundy’s import from Melbourne, Mark Cowley. Mark will forever be known as “Tin Cup” as word has it he only brought a 7 iron with him and wow, did he have that dialled in. He won 3 nearest to the Pins and $64 in the mystery hole. We can only be relieved that he did not bring the rest of his clubs up from Melbourne. Well done Mark and we hope to see you back soon.

A bumper field of 82 played on Thursday and John Kelly partnered with John McInnes to take out the 2 person Ambrose event by a street. Golf is a game of winning and losing Laurance Petkevitch keeps winning comps and losing shots off his handicap as he had an impressive 42 points to take out the day’s individual event.

Tuesday’s Medley proved that the world is a better place when Lefties win, as Walter Mockli cracked the 40-point barrier once again.

Well done to all our winners and participants.

Wentworth Falls Country Club Juniors

On Sunday 14th, WFCC hosted Round 3 of the US Kids Golf Summer Tour. 23 talented young (12 & under) golfers came from far and wide to play on the pristine greens of Wentworth Falls. It was a cracking day of golf and one of our own managed a win in his age group; well done Harry Daniels. WFCC will be hosting Round 7 of the Summer Tour on Sunday 25th February.

Trivia Question Answer: U.S Kids Golf was opened in Australia in 2010 - to help kids have fun playing golf.

U.S. Kids Golf Local Tours are created to provide boys and girls, ages 5 to 14, the opportunity to advance their skills in the game in age-appropriate competition. The emphasis of these tournaments is on fun and enjoyment. A Local Tour consists of six to eight one-day tournaments including a season-ending Local Tour Championship which are played at various high quality courses across Sydney. Medals are awarded at the completion of each tournament to the first 5 place getters and players earn awards and points for each tournament. These points can allow them to qualify for various national and International Tournaments through playing in their Local Tour. The pinnacle of these is the U.S Kids Golf World Championships which are held in Pinehurst U.S.A every August.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.
– r b
A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
– Nicky Fungo
I had my wedding here in November… place looked great, staff are so helpful. Definitely recommend.
