Happy new year to all. From the Golf’s perspective we have a fantastic new Professional, Dave Paddison. Many of you would have met Dave by now as well as his lovely partner Leanne. Dave has the same haircut as Rob so he must be a good stick. On top of this, Rob, Luke and Tania are still involved so how lucky are we. Our Junior ranks now sit at 52 registered. To a person, they play the game in the spirit that it should be played, and we can be proud of every one of them.

We have fantastic Green-staff, headed by the irrepressible Damien, who have the course in the best condition in the memory of most of us, even though his budget for last year was thinner than a catwalk supermodel. We now have a clear plan on how to supply Damien with the gear he needs so look forward to the impact of that. We have a new golf program with some new sponsors so stay in tune for that as well.

WEEKLY TRIVIA QUESTION: Which Australian golf star carried the Olympic torch across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 2000?

Saturdays competition was a Par Handicap with a 2BBB. Fondly referred to as Batman and Robin, Grant Underwood and Dominic Wardlaw used all the tricks in their arsenal and came in with a stunning +10 to win the teams event. No one has ever worked out who is who in this dynamic duo but they both look great in tights so no one enquires any further. Holy soft feel golf balls Batman. Grant took out the singles by Country Club mile with +7. Sorry Grant, but if there is any golfing justice, no more shots on 3 or 5 for you buddy. Coming a sneaky second in the teams event was the old stagers Bert Kryger and Laurie McCracken who somehow married a plus 3 and a minus 4 to also come in with +10. That’s some sweet combining boys. John Fuller made a welcome return scoring second place in the singles and won the putting. John also had 41 points on Thursday to come runner up as well. Who says you lose your short game first eh John. In the Ladies, Junior member Amelia Galbraith had a +4 and continued her incredible improvement. Amelia has dropped 11 shots off her handicap. Best Junior went to Harry Daniels who wait for it, has dropped 18 shots off his handicap and is just 10 Y.O.

Thursday’s comp had a great field of 79 week day warriors to eclipse Saturday’s field. John Hargreaves opened up one of his Xmas presents a little late and had a cracking 43 points to win the day. Tom Daniels marched into single figures after 38 points in Tuesday’s comp and followed up by winning the scratch on Thursday with a 75 off the stick including a “never gonna miss” eagle on the 18th. Also continuing her march to a single figure handicap was Magda Cawthorne who won the ladies event with 39 points. In the teams, there must have been lot’s of loving between Gerald Eather and Tim Kennedy as they notched up 52 points for the win.

Well done to all of our winners and participants.

WFCC JUNIORS

There is always a plethora of junior action happening at WFCC. To keep up to date with everything, hit up the Wentworth Falls Junior Golfers Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Wentworth-Falls-Junior-Golfers-166131040568639/ and press “like”.

Santa Clause was good to the juniors with many of them showing off some new golf gear this week. Some of them were showing off their golf game too.

Juniors, don’t forget that during the school holidays you can play in the open competitions on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday; plus the Cadets 10-hole challenge is still on every Sunday.

WFCC members would like to wish our four junior members (Chazz Ritchie, Aiden Cullen, Angus Evers & Harry Daniels) the best of luck in the Harvey Norman Week of Golf next week. Just to prove a point of how big junior golf at Wentworth Falls has become, this is the first time that WFCC has fielded a team in a Jack Newton Junior Golf Major Championship.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.

A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
– Nicky Fungo
I had my wedding here in November… place looked great, staff are so helpful. Definitely recommend.

We had our wedding reception here last year and absolutely loved it. Awesome food and we got to drive up in a golf buggy.
