We had a solid 193 competitive rounds played this week and every golfer was a happy camper as daylight saving kicked in. Our Trivia Question for the week is: Which member of our elite Senior Pennant Team went long on the 3rd hole on Saturday and scored a tidy 12? (Answer is at end of editorial)

Tuesday Open medley saw a great field of 50 line up with John Wilson cranking out 40 points and winning on a count back from Stewart Williams. The Ladies from the Lakes came in numbers and Silvia Gerring took out the best visitors’ prize. Thanks for making the trip ladies. You’re welcome anytime and next time, bring the boys as well.

In Thursday’s Single Stableford and 2BBB, Allen Helmrich took the honours from Mark Griffin in the mens. In the ladies, Anne Frazer was lonely at the top with Caroline Miller scoring the runners up prize. Allen and Steve Giles won the teams event. Special mention to Stewart Williams who knocked on the door on both Tuesday and Thursday but only managed to lose some points off his handicap. We’ve all been there Stewart.

Saturday was our Monthly Medal event and mother nature was blowing a treat. The worst day at golf is better than the best day at work and the 19th hole certainly got a workout afterwards. It certainly is a game of inches, and bunkers, and OOB, and trees, and roof tiles and neighbours’ yards.

The A grade Medal was won by Chaz Ritchie (Junior Member). Chaz came into the clubhouse in his cricket gear just in time for presentation. I vaguely remember having that amount of energy.

Paul Stephens battled the conditions best in B grade with a net 70 and also picked up the Guzzlers cup on a countback. Well done Paul.

In C grade, Paul Davies scored an impressive 66 nett for the win. Paul is a visitor who is just about to join up at Wenty so will have to wait until next month to win the Medal and the Guzzlers. Simon Whitehead, Andy Mclean and Laurie McCracken all had a 70 nett so they will all playoff for the medal next month.

In the Ladies, Lesley Robinson took to the coarse early and her net 73 held up all day to win both the medal and the Golden Goblet.

Well done to all our Winners and Participants.

School holidays equals golf, golf and more golf for our juniors.

It all started on Monday 25th September with a Jack Newton Junior Golf tournament at Lynwood. Harry Daniels came in 3rd place and Sam Kennedy, playing in his first JNJG competition came 5th.

Wednesday 27th September seven WFCC juniors travelled out to Bathurst to play in the Bathurst Junior Plate and what a successful trip it was. Harry Daniels came first in the 12 and under age group with 82, that’s 11 over par off the stick. He also won a NTP with 32 cm. Aiden Cullen won the nett in the 12-14 age group; Matteen Mashal & Chazz Ritchie came 1st & 2nd in nett in the 15-18 age group; Amelia Galbraith came runner-up in the girls nett.

Friday 29th September  three juniors played in the Stonecutters Ridge Junior Plate. As we have an Encourage Shield game there next month it was a great experience for the kids. Chazz Ritchie had a great day out, playing to his handicap at a course that he had never previously played.Chazz backed up his impressive results during the week by winning the A-grade Monthly Medal on Saturday. His next golfing adventure is currently taking place at Cypress Lakes where he is competing in the Jack Newton International Junior Classic. WFCC wishes Chazz the best of luck in this major junior competition.

Sunday 1st October – What a fantastic way to start the month in the Junior 10-hole challenge. Ellie Daniels has progressed to the next level in the junior development program as she got at least 15 points from the 200m markers; Ellie now plays from the front tees and when she gets 15 points again she can then get her official handicap. Results: 1 st – Amelia Galbraith, 22 points (Amelia also won the NTP); 2nd – Ellie Daniels, 18 points.

As the school holidays are upon us, WFCC will be holding a School Holiday Clinic on Friday 6th October. Cost is $30, which includes all equipment, tuition and a yummy lunch. To book or for more information please contact Wentworth Falls Pro Shop on 4757 1899.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.

A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
– Nicky Fungo
I had my wedding here in November… place looked great, staff are so helpful. Definitely recommend.
