Odell Moore Matchplay Update 10.9.2017

Cock of the Walk Handicap Matchplay Update as at 10.9.2017

Club Matchplay Championships update as at 10.9.2017

Leuk the Duck is back, our Trainee pro banks a cheque, lots of visitors come a knocking and our Juniors are winners everywhere. Another solid 185 competitive rounds rounded out by a Super Sunday. Our Trainee Pro Luke has had a great impact on the club since joining us. Luke competed in the NSW Trainee Championships during the week and finished in the money in a field of over 90. Congrats Luke.

Our Tuesday Open medley saw our handicapper Allen Helmrich streak the field by 4 points from Steve Giles.

On Wednesday & Thursday Harry Daniels and Lachlan Cullen represented Sydney West in the Primary School State Golf Championships at Camden Lakeside Golf Club. 98 kids qualified for the tournament. In the scratch, Lachlan shot 105 & 96 to finish tied 47th and Harry shot 91 & 89 to finish 14th. They both killed the nett with Lachlan coming runner up and Harry getting 3rd.  Sydney West also got runner up in the team competition

Thursday was our September Mid-Week Medal with Peter Cowan-Lunn and Bruce Crossing taking the honours in their grades. Joan Wood is certainly in a purple patch of form, just in time for the WFCC Women’s Open day on Monday 11th.

Saturday 9th September will be forever known as the Colin Evans presentation day. The Event was a single stableford with 2BBB in conjunction as well as the 3rd round of our Handiskins. Whilst most of us were thinking we should have stayed at home and done the lawns (well not really), Colin won the day’s Handiskins, won the overall day with 41 points, won the teams event with Jamie Taylor, and won the putting. Col did give special mention in his acceptance speech to his partner Jamie who had a very rare 5 pointer on our devil’s hole, the 16th. Aiden Cullen won the best Junior Prize.

The Ladies event saw Amelia Galbraith (Junior Member) topping the field. That’s 2 weeks in a row for Amelia and a more, lovely young lady you will not find. Well done again Millie. Special mention to our Visitors from Windsor. They had a great day on the course, stayed for presentation (or it may have been due to the Parra Vs Melbourne match on the tele), and did not win all the prizes: very nice of them.

How good is Golf. There is a few of us, myself, Dave Cullen and Jamie Galbraith who’s swing has gone shopping at Bunnings for the moment. We are thinking of taking up ballroom dancing to break the cycle, or if there are a few other members out there that feel the same way, give us a call, borrow a skirt and we will do a chorus line in the half time break of the grand final in a couple of weeks. I suppose we could just get some lessons instead.

Sunday 10th September was our Super Sunday Mixed Challenge. Aiden Cullen (a Junior Member) won the singles with Mary and Laurance Petkevitch winning the teams event. Mary and Laurance head the field in the ongoing mixed comp and will take some catching with just 3 rounds to go.

Also on Sunday, Harry Daniels won the scratch in the JNJG Juniors on the Move event at Bardwell Valley GC with 4 over par. The golfing future is in good hands at WFCC. For the first time, we have a Junior Pennant team that will be playing in the Jack Newton Junior Golf Encourage Shield.

WFCC will be holding a fundraising trivia night on Saturday 23rd September. This is sure to be a cracking night filled with laughter. For more information contact the Pro Shop on 4757 1899.

Well done to all our Winners and Participants.

All the week’s results can be found in the results area of our website, including Handiskins leaderboard and updated draws for our Matchplay events. Well done to all our participants.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.

A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
– Nicky Fungo
I had my wedding here in November… place looked great, staff are so helpful. Definitely recommend.
– Christina Clarke
We had our wedding reception here last year and absolutely loved it. Awesome food and we got to drive up in a golf buggy.
