Hole in one, winds that would make Jordon Spieth stay in bed, glorious sunshine, frozen greens, longest drives, greens that were harder to read than a Taxation Law textbook, and more wipes than a baby’s change table;Wentworth Falls had it all this week, amidst some great performances by our lads and lasses.

Our Tuesday open medley had John Kelley edging out our long-time handicapper Allen Helmrich.

Thursday was the Club Qualifier for the NSW Ladies Fourball. Lea Schaefer and Leonie Wilson turned in a stellar performance and cleaned up with a Plus 9 in the 2BBB Par Handicap format. Lea and Leonie will now represent the club at Leura in the regional qualifier which then leads to Bonnville for the state championship. All the best ladies.

Thursday was also a Par Handicap & 2BBB event, with Peter Wong and Steve Giles getting the job done in the singles on a windy Wenty day. Peter also teamed up with Frank Tregier to take out the teams’ event with a Plus 10. The Ladies event was won by Lea Schaefer with Joan Wood only 1 shot behind. Special mention goes to Bruce Crossing who had a “hole in one” on the 12th. You have a spot booked on presentation night Bruce, so you have a bit of time to work on your delivery on how it played out.

Saturday saw a great field of 98 contest a Single stableford with 2 ball aggregate teams event. The Mens event was won by Adam Pabian who with the help of brother Adrian (not a church reference) also won the teams event. Adam just keeps scoring in spite of a plummeting handicap.

Special mention also goes to what has to be the longest drive on the par 5, 14th in living memory, albeit wind assisted. A well placed and reliable course marshal, has related to me that he could have punted a black pudding further than Adrian Pabian had to the green for his second. I am uncertain what these Pabian brothers are being fed, but I want some. The Ladies event for the day was won by Philippa Parker. I played with Philippa on the day, she was a pleasure to play with and….. That girl can putt!

All the week’s results can be found in the results area of our website. Well done to all our participants.

Next week we have our Monthly Medal as well as the qualifier for the graded Matchplay so hit the practice fairway, or even better, play more golf in the lead up.

On Monday, WFCC pro Rob Kennedy took 4 of our juniors to compete in the Bankstown Junior Open. Harry Daniels was in great form and had a whopping 44 points. Angus Evers who won the day’s encouragement award and Chazz Ritchie had a solid 33 points. Special mention to Sam Kennedy who played in his first Open tournament and didn’t lose all his balls on a tough track.

Next Friday, Harry Daniels flies off to America to represent Australia in the US Kids World Cup. Harry is already a winner just getting to the finals, so everything from here is a bonus. Good luck from all of us at Wentworth Falls.

Don’t forget our weekly junior clinics. The beginner’s clinic is on Friday and the advanced on Tuesday. Both clinics start at 4pm and they are both FREE. To book or for more information please contact Wentworth Falls Pro Shop on 4757 1899.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.

A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
