 Wenty Wrap.

Extra layers, beanies, frosty fairways and greens, hot soup, long johns and the occasional shiver, that’s Winter in the mountains. Don’t we all just love it.

The first day of Winter also saw our First Friday Night Karaoke and it went off a treat. For the first time in living memory, Neville had to call last drinks over the top of a very passionate version of Khe Sahn performed by our local Boy Band, Dave Paddison, Ashley Edwards, Steve West and Jordan. OK, so Jordon was the only one who really qualifies. As a boy band goes, he alone is young, good looking, has talent and has hair, but the rest of us were there with him, making noise.

Our Barking Spiders Karaoke will be on the last Friday of every month so come a long and have some fun.

The week saw the completion of the 3rdround of the Coca Cola challenge. Our Jackpot Hole is building again ($181), the Odell-Moore Matchplay title is decided and the Dr RB Holliday trophy is at finals stage.

In the Coca Cola Challenge, Stuart Liddell, Susan Taylor and the very consistent Mark Griffin shared week 3’s honours. As the competition ends week 3, the top 10 in the competition is made up of a great cross section of our membership, with John Fuller, Frank Olsen and Mark Griffin leading the way.

Donny Sutherland has achieved honour board status by finishing too strong for Laurance Petkevitch in the Odell-Moore Matchplay. Donnie has dropped 11 strokes off his handicap in the last 12 months and must be one of the most improved golfers in the club. Well done Donnie.

In the Dr RB Holliday match play event, only Gary Hunter can stand in the way of an all Pabian Final. Gary is the current C grade Champion, so will be tough to beat, but if Brothers Adam and Adrian do end up playing out the ultimate sibling rivalry, it will be a great event and another first for the club.

We had almost 200 competitive rounds last week and with our greens running true and getting faster, we look forward to lots of great golf over winter.

As a special announcement, we are now a very proud partner of the Qantas Club. They will be marketing our course to their 1.2million golfing members around the country giving them incentive to have a round at Wenty when they come and visit the mountains.

Wentworth Falls Juniors

It was chilly on Sunday, which isn’t surprising considering it was the first day of winter, but that didn’t stop the kids coming out in force to play in the Junior 10-hole Challenge.  Here are the final results:

1st– Lachlan Cullen, 18 points; equal 2nd– Liam Griffiths & William Taiyakupt, 14 points (both agonisingly close to the magical 15 point barrier); equal 4th– Zach Ivery & Harry Daniels, 12 points; 6th– Mitchell Browne, 8 points. Young Emerald Waugh managed to get a few holes in too. NTP on 9th, second shot – Zach Ivery.

On Saturday the juniors were on fire in the Open Stableford competition, with Aiden Cullen winning the day with 38 points and Sam Kennedy coming third with 37 points. Prize for the best junior score went to Jacob Cullen with 33 points.

Good luck to all of our juniors that are playing in the JNJG Macarthur Junior Masters over the long weekend.

Don’t forget the FREE weekly junior clinics. The advanced clinic is on Tuesday and the beginner’s clinic is now on a Wednesday. Both clinics start at 4pm. For more information contact Wentworth Falls Pro Shop on 4757 1202.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.
– r b
A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
– Nicky Fungo
I had my wedding here in November… place looked great, staff are so helpful. Definitely recommend.
– Christina Clarke
We had our wedding reception here last year and absolutely loved it. Awesome food and we got to drive up in a golf buggy.
