We are blessed in the mountains with 3 magnificent golf courses to play on, each with their own unique and stunning attributes.  Another bumper week with 215 competitive rounds at Wenty.

On Sunday, all the pennants teams put on their best shirts (thanks Dave at D’Vine Cellars) and took to our beautiful sister course at Blackheath. Our Seniors team was brave in defeat to the reigning champs Lithgow with Chazz Ritchie (The best Junior in the mountains) playing at number 1. Our freshly minted Kortum No 1 team, led by Paul Nagle had a nail biting tie and Paul Garnsey’s No2 team went down, but not without a fight. Both sides are still in their as the Kortum competition will be very tight this year. Murray’s Masters was without Murray as he celebrated a very special birthday on the weekend, but received an extra birthday present, with his team having a big win. Stand -in captain Don Dunn led from the front and the days turning point came with an inspirational come from way behind victory from the bandaged care bear, Scott Lowe. The halftime sausage and  beer, as well as a Roy Masters Style motivational shellacking from his playing partner John, did the trick and Scott proved that Out of Bounds is just a state of mind.

Saturday saw a great field of 115 fight for the honour of taking out our Summer Cup. The always astute judge of character, Farquhar Boyd chose the Pabian brothers (Adam and Adrian) and the red hot junior Jacob Cullen as his running mates. They certainly had the balance of power on the day and 47 points from Jacob did not hurt their cause. The Stableford competition saw our Juniors own the winner’s dais with Danny Waugh and Godfrey Lucas being the only winners over 40. ( I think Danny is over 40 but we will have him anyway). The Ladies Stableford competiton saw Lea Schaefer sink her second shot on the 18th to win the eagles nest and cement her spot in the winners circle, beating Mary Pektevitch OCB with 40 points. The man with the best smile in the mountains (he really should sell insurance), Grant Underwood, won the mystery hole this week and is $84  to the better.

Thursday’s competition had our Kortum shield pennants Captain Paul Nagle biting his nails with anxiety in the proshop after shooting a stunning 43 points. Only when he was told that the juniors are all in school did he relax and begin to believe. Paul’s 43 was not enough to get him and his partner( The teams event was an aggregate so we know what that means Mr Lowe) across the line as John Celeban and David Payens chalked up a win.

Tuesday saw John Kelley hold off the voracious Juniors on their last day of holiday before returning to school. Our kids took all the minor prizes but well done John, you did us proud.

Congratulations to all our Winners and Participants.

Wentworth Falls Country Club Juniors

Aren’t the kids supposed to give the adults a chance now they’re back at school? It seems not.

Some of the juniors did manage to sneak in one more game in their holidays when they played in the Tuesday competition on their “pupil free day”. It was a day out for them too, with three of them beating their handicap. Aiden Cullen came runner-up for the day with 39 points, which equates to a personal best score of 83 off the stick.

Saturday saw the kids run riot once again. Jacob Cullen piggy backed his foursome to victory in the WFCC Summer Cup by contributing 47 Stableford points to their team score. This score was good enough to win the individual event too. Lachlan Cullen came in 3rd with 41 points. Junior prize for the week went to Aiden Cullen with 35 points.

On Sunday Chazz Ritchie and Aiden Cullen represented the club in Pennants and Harry Daniels came runner-up in the US Kids Golf event at Bexley. For those juniors who were not representing the club elsewhere we held our weekly junior 10-hole challenge, affectionately known as “Cadets”. Here are the results: 1st – Jacob Cullen, 21 points; 2nd – Amelia Galbraith, 19 points; 3rd – Lachlan Cullen, 15 points; 4th – Oliver Cullen, 9 points. A reminder that this is a FREE event held every Sunday at 1:30pm for all WFCC junior members.

Don’t forget the FREE junior clinics. The beginner’s clinic is on Friday and the advanced on Tuesday, both clinics start at 4pm. Contact the pro shop on 4757 1899 for further details.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.

We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.

A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
