WEEKLY TRIVIA QUESTION: How many weeks in total did Greg Norman spend as No1 Golfer (Answer at end of editorial)

OUTSTANDING COMPETITION

We broke the double century this week with a sensational 201 competition rounds. All the hard work our course staff have done in the tough times has been rewarded and the course has never looked better. Special thanks also go to our volunteers. Of late, they have made a huge difference clearing out under trees for all of us that end up there. Thanks Guys, your work is greatly appreciated.

On Tuesday, John Kelley backed up a 45 points the previous week with another 41 points proving that his entry into B grade was no fluke. Well done John.

Philippa Parker has always been one of the most beautifully presented golfers at the club and on Thursday, she created her own bit of poetry by blending style and form by scoring a classy 42 points for the win.

Our Monthly Medals were played on Saturday and with 122 in the field including 31 ladies, there was always going to be stories to tell. In the Ladies, Carmel Field from the Coast Golf Club had the game of her life and scored a 63 nett, that’s 11 under par. Carmel and the ladies from the Coast will be back next year. 11 under is hard to top but Magda Cawthorne gave it a shake and scored 82 off the stick to win the medal and the prized Golden Goblet. Magda’s 82 was only just eclipsed by Hubby Jeff’s 81. I’m uncertain what the consequences are of your wife beating you off the stick, and fortunately, Jeff doesn’t need to worry, Yet!

In A Grade, Bert Kryger sank a 40 foot snake from the back of the 18th green to snatch victory from Jeff Pails and Danny Waugh. In B Grade, Doug Halpin had to sink his second on the 18th from a long way out to claim the flag and 67 nett. That shot also won Doug the Guzzler from Gary Hunter who won C grade.

Doug also won the eagles nest on 18 but sorry Doug, you’ll have to split the prize as incredibly, Peter Sait also sunk his second shot. Who would have thunk it? Harry Daniels won the best Junior prize.

Saturday was also the qualifiers for the Dr Holliday Matchplay trophy with Gary Hunter coming in as top qualifier.

In the September C grade Medal playoff., Simon Whitehead, Laurie McCracken and Andy McLean duked it out. The prize should go to Laurie for Bold Experimentation as he included a trip to the Greenkeeper’s shed on route to the 10th green but at the end of the day, the last man standing was Andy McLean. Well done Andy.

On Sunday, our A Grade Matchplay title was won at the final hole by Farquhar Boyd over Peter Cullen. Well done Farquhar.

WENTWORTH FALLS JUNIORS

It turns out that Mountains kids find life tough in the scorching heat. Our Encourage Shield team travelled to Lynwood to play against Stonecutters Ridge on Sunday and, in 35+ degrees, WFCC lost 5-1 with Jacob Cullen the only player to win his match. All is not lost with the final game of the season being played at Wentworth Falls next Sunday. There will be lots of amazing junior golf on display on Sunday so why not come down to support the WFCC team.

Don’t forget our FREE junior clinics. The beginner’s clinic is on Friday and the advanced is on Tuesday, both starting at 4pm. For more information, please contact Wentworth Falls Pro Shop on 4757 1899.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.
– Anne Hutchins
We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.
– r b
A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
– Nicky Fungo
I had my wedding here in November… place looked great, staff are so helpful. Definitely recommend.
– Christina Clarke
We had our wedding reception here last year and absolutely loved it. Awesome food and we got to drive up in a golf buggy.
