No less than 35 Visitors representing 15 golf clubs came to play at Wenty, the last official week of winter in the mountains brings 193 competition rounds and our Juniors prove that the futures so bright, you’ve got to wear shades. The rains came during the nights, leaving the course as green as the beer on Saint Patrick’s day. You have to say, “it just doesn’t get much better”!

Our Tuesday Open medley saw Godfrey Lucas edge out Paul Stephens, by a single point. I’m betting a putt on the 3rd, 5th or 7th made the difference.

Our Thursday Event had a great field of 65 players and was a single Stableford with all fingers and toes required to work out the results of a split sixes teams event. The singles events were won by Ron Wiseman in the men and Nicole Hussein for the ladies. Ron teamed up with Peter Pollock to win the Split Sixes, just holding out the pure ball striking A grade combination of Murray Patterson and Craig Maloney. I had the pleasure of playing the round with Laurance and Mary Petkevitch and Callum Jones. We had a moment on the 9th when Callum had a 15 meter putt for a 2 from the back of the green. Laurance and myself were standing just below the hole as we saw Callums putt climb to the top of the green and then turn, beginning to snake its way back down the green towards the hole. The ball inched and crawled and we rode it like a Melbourne Cup favourite all the way till it finally fell in the hole on it’s last gasp rotation. A holla was bellowed out and I’m pretty sure that the postie who was delivering his mail across the rode fell off his bike. That was a lot of fun!

Saturday was our August Monthly medal with the highly sort after Guzzler’s Cup and Golden Goblet up for grabs.  We raised the bat again with a field of 111 participants including 33 visitors, representing 13 golf clubs from all over the basin.

Special mention has to go to Bill Slatford. You may recall that Bill had a great extra time win in this years B Grade Club Championships. He had also just had a hard fought win in the graded match play over a very tough competitor in President Stuart Liddell. However, nothing quite gets you prepared for a day out with the Pabian Brothers. When I saw Bill he had blood gushing from a head wound. He indicated to me that there was some contention over a preferred lie. Who ever said golf was not a blood sport.

The overall day was won by James Borg, one of our visitors from Leonay Golf Club. James also won the mystery hole so a repeat trip up the hill will be worth it given the booty of prizes awaiting. Chazz Ritchie (a Junior member) won the A grade Medal. B Grade medal winner was Jeff Gorrie with Chester Romanowski runner up. Jeff carded a 68 net and so also won the Guzzlers cup. Craig Limbert won the C grade Medal and Harry Daniels (a Junior member) was runner up. The Ladies Medal and the Golden Goblet was won by Sue West. A count of 23 seconds post announcement was had before the Goblet was rescued from its home at the bottom of the fridge and brought into action.

Well done to all of our Winners and Participants.

Community is loosely defined as a group of people with something in common. The ongoing success and participation of our Juniors is key to our community. We currently have 39 Junior members. Just in August, Chazz Ritchie won the A Grade Medal, Harry Daniels was runner up in C grade and Lachlan and Jacob Cullen qualified for the “Cock of the Walk”, an honour board event. Harry has just come home from the ultimate golfing experience when he got to represent Australia in the US Kids Golf World Championships in the US. Only 173 10 year olds from around the globe qualified for the tournament.

On Sunday, Sue and myself played 10 holes with our grandson Tyler, who ran between each shot and after 465 swings, still wanted more. Just a hole behind us was Janine Cullen and Rusty, also enjoying a Sunday afternoon on the course. A little later on, we saw Tom Daniels, Harry and Ellie going up to the putting green for a quick game of “poison”.

Like I said before, “The future’s so bright, you gotta wear shades”

All the week’s results can be found in the results area of our website, including Handiskins leaderboard and updated draws for our Matchplay events. Well done to all our participants.

I just wanted to write to let you know just how impressed I was with your club. In fact, everyone who attended the lunch was very, very impressed. Your staff could not have been more friendly, efficient and helpful. Even the young guy behind the bar was super-friendly whilst still being professional.  The food, without exception, was tremendous.

We often take family and visitors to the Thursday/Friday night servings and always found that everybody has enjoyed the food. The service is great with contact with the chef and his staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem for them even on a fully booked night they are so obliging.
– Mark R
Lovely Country golf club, with nice views over the course. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.
– Martin C
An excellent venue for a special function. Friendly helpful staff and scrumptious food. I attended two Christmas lunches this past week and both were terrific. Also the Friday night carvery is worth trying. And the coffee is good too.
– Maunie K
This club has a real atmosphere about it and it never fails to please. Food, service all good. The servings are very generous and on most occasions are served quite quickly. The wine prices are attractive.
– Geoffrey W
My grandparents live in the area and after staying longer than expected visiting them suggested we have dinner at the country club. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me how good It was! - or I wouldn't have had so much for lunch.

A great course with attractive flora and fauna, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains.
– Naysan H
Thank you to my good friends at Wentworth Falls Country Club for your support and Fund raising to help me get to World Championships in Germany. This club and its community have supported me over the past 10 years, and for that I'm grateful. The Friendliest and best club in the Mountains.
– Moe Westmoreland
The Society of Mountain Artists had their Christmas lunch at the club last Thursday. It was the best ever, the club goes out of its way to make it work and the food was outstanding.
– Marie Morris
My family and I would like to thank Jackie and Matt and everyone else at the club for making our daughters and son in law Monique & Joel's wedding such a wonderful night. It was an amazing night and all of our guests commented on the friendliness of your staff and how lovely the food was. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
– Julie Christie
Cannot express how well the staff helped on our wedding day, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Thank you.
– Nicky Fungo
I had my wedding here in November… place looked great, staff are so helpful. Definitely recommend.
